/ About Fulpra Triple
The Fulpra Triple is a three-wheeled electric cargo bike designed for commercial goods transport in urban areas, featuring a unique tilting front frame that allows it to lean into bends and ride like a two-wheeler. It has pedal assistance up to 25 km/h, a load capacity of up to 2.5 m³ and can carry up to 350 kg of cargo. The Triple is a Dutch product, developed and built in Nieuwegein, and is used by companies and local authorities in more than ten countries — including DHL, PostNL, FedEx, DB Schenker and the City of Amsterdam.
For businesses and organisations that deliver or transport goods in urban areas on a daily basis, and where riders want to retain that sporty cycling feel: courier and parcel services, fresh produce distribution, mobile services, postal services, facility maintenance, waste collection and municipal services. The Triple is suitable for intensive use by riders who are accustomed to a two-wheeler and appreciate its manoeuvrability. It is suitable for riders from 1.60 m to 1.98 m in height.
The Triple is available in two standard heights:
• Triple L (low roof, 1.57 m high) - load space 1.14 m high inside, 1.8 m³ volume
• Triple XL (high roof, 1.98 m high) - load compartment 1.55 m high internally, 2.5 m³ volume
Each cargo area can be fully customised in terms of equipment and options to suit sector-specific uses such as parcel delivery, fresh produce deliveries, and service, cleaning, waste collection and installation services. All variants have the same external width (1.0 m) and length (3.25 m). The Weather Kit (roof and wind deflector) is only available on the Triple XL.
/ Specifications
Maximum load 350 kg. The load volume is 1.8 m³ (L) or 2.5 m³ (XL). The total permissible weight (cargo bike + batteries + rider + load) is 650 kg.
The internal dimensions of the load space are 0.9 m wide × 1.77 m long × 1.14 m high (L) or 1.55 m high (XL). This means, for example, that two standard roll containers can fit one behind the other, a Euro pallet, 45 Euro crates, 220 shoe boxes or 25 bin bags.
A standard battery set (two 51V Li-ion batteries, totalling 3,600 Wh) provides a range of 40-50 km with average use, reaching up to 60 km under ideal conditions. The actual range depends on the load, temperature, riding mode, wind and gradient. With an additional battery set, the range can easily be doubled, or you can swap in 30 seconds to start a second route.
Maximum 25 km/h with electric pedal assistance (EU standard for cargo bikes). Above this speed, the motor switches off automatically. The walk & ride assist (throttle) works up to 6 km/h, both forwards and backwards.
• Width: 1.0 m (smaller than any van)
• Length: 3.25 m
• Height: 1.57m (L) or 1.98m (XL)
Turning circle: 6.9 m
Ground clearance: 19 cm
With a width of exactly 1 metre, the Quatro fits on almost any cycle path and in low-traffic city centres.
An empty Triple weighs 300 kg (excluding batteries), which is 25 kg lighter than a Quatro. The maximum permitted total weight is 650 kg, including two batteries (weighing approximately 16 kg in total), the rider and the load.
/ Drive, Accu en technique
The Triple runs on two removable 51V Li-ion batteries (totalling 3,600 Wh) that operate in parallel. They are located behind the rear mudguard and can be swapped within 30 seconds — either whilst on the bike or charged separately from a standard mains socket. A full charge takes approximately 4 hours.
The tilting front frame is the unique feature of the Triple: the front frame (with the two front wheels) leans into the bend, just like on a two-wheeler. As a result, the Triple handles corners naturally, prevents tipping and maintains perfect road holding — even when fully loaded. The rider retains the familiar feel of a bicycle, combined with the stability of three wheels when stationary.
Fulpra e-XACT DRIVE™ is our proprietary pedal-assist system featuring a pressure-sensor drive in the rear wheel. The assistance adapts precisely to the force the rider applies to the pedals, ensuring a smooth and safe riding experience at any speed up to 25 km/h. The system has 320 Nm of torque and switches the motor on and off automatically.
The Triple can handle gradients of up to 15% when fully loaded. This makes it suitable for most urban gradients, bridges and multi-storey car park ramps. From a standstill on a steep gradient, the walk assist helps you drive away smoothly. For regular use on steeper gradients (over 15%), the Quatro with 20% climbing capacity is the better choice.
Hydraulic disc brakes on all wheels, based on automotive-grade components. There is also a mechanical parking brake that holds the cargo bike in place on gradients of up to 15%. The brake fluid level can be checked through windows on the brake levers.

/ Comparison with other vehicles
Both models are e-cargo bikes and share the same load volume up to 2.5 m³, the same drivetrain (e-XACT DRIVE™), a maximum speed of 25 km/h, and the same cargo space options. The choice depends on what your riders value:
Fulpra Triple (3 wheels)
• Rides like a two-wheeler thanks to the unique tilting front frame
• Agile cycling feel, slightly shorter turning circle
• Roof and windscreen are optional (Weather Kit)
• For riders who want to retain the sporty cycling experience Fulpra Quatro (4 wheels)
Maximum comfort and stability, even with heavy loads
• Full suspension on all four wheels
• Standard full cab with roof and windscreen
• Accessible for every type of rider, even with varying deployment
In short: choose the Triple for manoeuvrability and a bike-like feel; choose the Quatro for stability, comfort and weather protection.
A Fulpra is a professional three- or four-wheeled cargo bike with a cabin. A two-wheeler is a traditional cargo bike or long-tail bike.
Advantages of Fulpra:
• Up to 5x more load capacity than an average two-wheeled cargo bike
• Enclosed, lockable cargo area for valuable or weather-sensitive cargo
• Do not tip over when stationary or under heavy load
• More stable at full weight and in corners
Protects rider from rain and wind (cabin)
• Built as a commercial vehicle for minimal maintenance intervals and downtime
Benefits of a two-wheeled vehicle:
Cheaper to buy
• Smaller and therefore even more manoeuvrable • Narrower in width (often <0.7 m)
• Suitable for light rides or occasional use
For professional daily use with heavy loads, a Fulpra is structurally more durable and safer. For occasional or light use, a two-wheeler will suffice.
The Fulpra and Quatro have been specifically designed to replace delivery vans in urban areas. Compare the key figures (1,000 km/month, 160 hours/month):
• Monthly TCO: Fulpra €447 vs diesel van €1,724 vs electric van €1,560
• Cost per stop: Fulpra €0.14–0.17 vs delivery van €0.72–1.08
• Productivity: Fulpra 20–25 stops per hour vs. delivery van 10–15 stops per hour
• Payback period for the Fulpra compared to a delivery van: 15–17 months
Advantages of Fulpra:
• €1.000 savings per month
• 2× more efficient in the city
• No driving licence required, no road tax
Access to pedestrian zones, low-emission zones, traffic-calmed centres
• No parking fees or fines (average €150-200/month for a van)
• No local CO2 emissions
• Parking right outside
Advantages of a van:
• Larger volume (4-6 m³) and weight (800+ kg) for heavy/large loads
• Better suited to long-distance or out-of-town journeys • Fully enclosed cabin with climate control Most vans operate in the city at just 25–40% of their capacity — falling precisely within the 2.5 m³ and 300 kg range. For those journeys, the Fulpra is structurally cheaper and faster.
A LEV (Light Electric Vehicle, for example Goupil G4, Streetscooter, Tropos or Aixam models) is a small electric commercial vehicle, often with L7e type approval.
Benefits of LEV:
Higher maximum speed (45-80 km/h)
• Often larger loading volume (2.5-5 m³) and larger payload
• Fully enclosed climate cabin
• Greater range between charges
Advantages of Fulpra:
• No driving licence required (LEV requires at least an AM or B licence)
No parking fees
• No registration plate obligation, no road tax, no MOT
• Access to cycle paths — LEVs remain on the carriageway
• Access to pedestrian zones and car-free city centres
• Significantly lower purchase price and TCO
• More compact (1 m wide) and manoeuvrable in narrow streets
• No parking permit required
• Rider movement (health benefits)
For purely inner-city last-mile deliveries involving numerous stops, a Fulpra is usually more efficient. For journeys on public roads at higher speeds, or where the payload exceeds 350 kg, a LEV may be the better choice.
Properties of a delivery scooter or microcar (L6):
• Higher maximum speed on the road (25 or 45 km/h)
• Moped certificate / driving licence required
• Paid parking
• Not permitted on most cycle paths and pedestrian areas
Features of the Fulpra:
• No driving licence or helmet required in most EU countries (cargobike category)
• Access to cycle paths, cycle lanes and pedestrian zones
• Free parking
• No registration plate, cheaper insurance
• Safe for the rider and other urban users due to 25 km/h pedal assistance and softshell EPP bumpers
/ Costs en Business Case (The Combined Organisation)
Based on average urban use (1,000 km/month, 160 hours/month), the total monthly TCO of a Triple XL is approximately €447 — comparable to that of the Quatro XL. This includes financing, maintenance, insurance, average claims handling and energy consumption.
By way of comparison: an electric van costs €1,560 per month, whilst a diesel van costs €1,724 per month for the same usage. The Fulpra is therefore 2–3 times cheaper per month.
The payback period compared to a delivery van is on average 15-17 months for city trips of approximately 1,000 km/month. From that point on, each month driven offers structural savings of €1,000+ compared to that same van. The actual payback period depends on your current costs, driving profile, and replacement scenario (which vehicle you replace and in what mix).
Based on a typical urban profile (1,000 km/month):
• Energy/fuel: €24 (Fulpra) vs €60 (electric bus) or €160 (diesel)
• Maintenance: €99 vs €160-212
• Insurance: €40 vs €90-106 • Parking and fines: €0 vs €150-200
• Road tax: €0 vs €50 (diesel)
• Working time savings: a cargo bike makes twice as many stops per hour, which is approximately €500/month in productivity gains
This also eliminates frustrations such as loading and unloading fines, parking problems, limited access to low-emission zones and traffic delays.

Fulpra cargo bikes are now in use in more than ten countries. Standard configurations are available for the EU, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada (differences in speed, units and brake/door position vary by region).
No, not in most EU countries. The Fulpra Triple falls under the ‘Carrier Cycle’ category and is an electric bike with pedal assistance up to 25 km/h. No driving licence, no registration, no compulsory helmet. However, it is advisable to take out insurance for the vehicle (and in some cases this is compulsory for commercial use). Always check local regulations: in some cities or countries, a helmet or third-party liability insurance may be required.
